After making the US women's gymnastics team for the Tokyo Olympics on June 27, the 24-year-old took a moment to thank her mom and dad, Nellie and Ronald Biles, for all of their support over the years. In an Instagram post shared on Tuesday, her parents could be seen giving their daughter a kiss as they wore matching shirts that featured a quote from Simone: "Because I can." Her dad even proudly sported a Team USA baseball cap. As if the photos weren't cute enough, her caption is making us super emotional. "Appreciation post for my sweet parents," Simone wrote. "Thanks for making sacrifices since day 1 so I can live out my dream. but most importantly thanks for always being there for me through all the highs and lows. You guys are the absolute best. I love y'all." Nellie and Ronald - who are Simone's grandparents and officially adopted her in 2003 - have always been front and center for her gymnastics journey. In addition to sporting Team USA gear and cheering her on from the stands, they even have an adorable ritual during her competitions: they give each other a kiss whenever Simone hits a routine. On June 29, the 43-year-old made a statement to People via his attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan in response to Britney's June 23 conservatorship hearing. "The best thing would be for their mom to be healthy and happy. And if either of those things aren't true, it doesn't provide for the best setting for custody to be exercised," Mark shared. "[Kevin] certainly respects Britney and only hopes the best for her because when the best for her is achieved, it's the best for their kids. The kids love their mother and he wants there to be a healthy and strong relationship." Mark added that he felt that "Britney has not been served well by the conservatorship and it's not consistent with what she wants. I think that she should be able to challenge that. And if it's what's best for her, Kevin supports it . . . If she's strong and healthy and wants to be in control of her own life, and can do that in a reasonable, responsible fashion, then more power to her." Britney's attorney stated during her June 23 testimony that he would "file a motion to end the conservatorship" if asked by her. Kevin and Britney's marriage lasted from 2004-2007, and the two currently share custody of sons Sean Preston, 15, and Jayden James, 14. | | | | | |
