Plus: five of the best history podcasts What is it with podcasts and poetry? Today, Frank Skinner launches the latest series of his ode to odes. Regular Hear Here readers will know that another upcoming show on our radar involves an attempt to solve life’s problems through lovingly constructed verses. And next week Gyles Brandreth and his daughter start a show dedicated to poems from around the Commonwealth, featuring Joanna Lumley and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall (happy Platty Jubes everyone!). We suspect the appeal is something to do with the fun of mingling a traditional format with cutting edge audio techniques. Or at least, it is for us – but we’re big fans of juxtaposing the old with the new, as you can probably guess from this week’s There’s a Podcast for That, devoted to five brilliant history podcasts.
It’s joined by a look at a gripping true-crime show about a serial killer in 90s Montreal, and a fun gay remake of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. After all, novels need to get a look-in among all the poetry podcasts too.
